Welcome to Rio TV at Rio Norte JHS
Class Description
Rio TV is a media technology class at Rio Norte Junior High School. Students will learn broadcast journalism, video production, and film education. Rio TV is designed for students that are beginning to advanced.
Students will earn a grade based on class participation, working in a team environment, creating news broadcasts, filming on location for after school functions, creating morning announcements, commercials, short films, and other journalism type of media such as news for the Internet. Students will also be exposed to camera equipment, video editing software, computers, stage lighting, audio equipment, writing scripts/story boarding, and directing others, etc.
Students will learn a variety of technical career skills that will help them to advance into the job market after high school. Students will have the opportunity to submit original work for competitions at the Student Television Network Conventions.
Rio TV students will be seen as student leaders at all school functions. Rio TV work is not limited to class time. Rio TV students will work during summer, before school, during breaks and lunch, after school, evenings, and on weekends to edit projects and filming. Out of class responsibilities will be demanding and service hours are apart of the class curriculum for the students to earn a satisfactory grade in the class.
